Will AI Replace Me Too?

🩉 My job requires a 'human' touch.

TODAY’S TAKE

Will AI Replace Me Too?

“My job requires a human touch. AI can’t do what I do.” Sound familiar? Let’s face it – AI is catching up fast, and it's on its way to mastering skills we once thought were exclusively ours. Can AI be compassionate and empathetic?

This week, we were introduced to GPT-4o, an AI capable of real-time interaction across audio, vision, and text. It’s just the latest jump in the still-early evolution of AI. Customer service bots are handling complex interactions and responding with what sounds like empathetic tones. It’s almost eerie how human they are beginning to seem. Are soft skills replicable? Well, have you ever known a human who was capable of faking compassion? If we can replicate it, you can bet AI will be able to as well.

When you look far enough into the future, at the rate AI and robotics are improving, it’s hard to imagine any job that they can’t eventually handle. So, should you be worried? I don’t think so. The job market will evolve significantly as these changes take hold. Instead of worrying about something inevitable, stay informed and adjust as it unfolds. Currently, AI is targeting repetitive and data-heavy roles. Yes, it will eventually tackle those requiring more of a 'human touch' and likely move further into our workspace, but it will take time.

And while AI is a powerful tool, ideas and creativity are infinite. We will always have the edge when it comes to imagination and pure creativity. The need for those qualities will only grow.

So, yes, as time goes on, AI is going to replace humans in many professions, but it’s also opening doors to new opportunities. Stay curious, keep learning, and let’s use our creativity to lead the way forward.
